I have often been disappointed by jerky that has been mislabeled as “spicy”, either offering a hint of jalapeño or being a nuclear explosion on my tastebuds. With my spicy jerky, I chose to go for a middle-of-the-road level of heat, hot enough for your average heat seeker without having so much heat you forfeit the flavors of your ingredients.
